For a lot of things you apply for (like bank accounts, drivers licence etc) you will be asked to prove your identity, including when you enrol to vote. Often 100 points of ID are needed. Also, if you are of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander heritage, you may require a letter to confirm this if applying for certain services or programs.
